Mavericks HC Jason Kidd’s Luka Doncic comments hilariously interrupted by Siri

DALLAS — When I asked Jason Kidd a question about Luka Doncic on Friday, I certainly was not expecting Siri to help the Dallas Mavericks head coach with the answer. Yet, that is what ultimately ended up happening.

After asking Kidd how important it is to have a player on the team who does not complain about injuries, he started to answer the question before Siri chimed in.

“He never complains about anything,” Kidd said with a smile on his face. “That’s just who he is.”

And that is when a reporter’s phone said the following, “That’s what I figured.”

“She agrees that he doesn’t complain,” Kidd said after the moment, “That’s pretty good.”

After Kidd and the reporters had a laugh, the NBA Hall of Famer proceeded to answer the question.

“But it just shows his toughness. His will to help the team win. He’s banged up. He’s gonna go out there and play and understand that the physicality is going to be high that he has to go through. Again, just what he’s given us has helped us win games and that’s what we’re gonna need tomorrow night.”

Doncic has been listed as probable or questionable quite frequently during the NBA playoffs. Yet, he has still found a way to remain on the floor.

Doncic recorded a 31-point triple-double in Game 5. It was an impressive bounce-back effort after he had previously struggled in the scoring department during the series.

One of Luka’s primary goals was to not complain to the referees as often in Game 5. Kidd also addressed that during Friday’s interview.

“I think he had that conversation with himself,” Kidd said. “I had the conversation with the team before we went out on the floor. Just understanding the atmosphere of being on the road… Let’s not complain about the calls. I thought for our bench to be involved… The energy of our bench sometimes doesn’t get the credit. They need to be involved in that game and I thought they did a really good job.”

The Mavs utilized a team effort to win Game 5. It was encouraging to see Doncic return to his MVP-caliber form in the game without question, though. When Doncic is playing at an elite level, the Mavs are incredibly difficult to defend.

Kyrie Irving is also a star, while opposing defenses also need to think about PJ Washington, Derrick Jones Jr., and others. Containing Luka and Kyrie is difficult enough, but when the whole team gets involved this Mavs offense features a high-ceiling to say the least.

Dallas is looking for more of the same in Game 6. The defense has also played a quality brand of basketball. They have kept the Thunder in check for the most part.

When is Game 6 of the Thunder-Mavericks series?

The Mavs will host the Thunder in Game 6 on Saturday night at 8 PM EST. Dallas can clinch a series victory with a win. If Oklahoma City wins Game 6, however, the Thunder will host the Mavs in Game 7.

The Mavericks are hoping to avoid a Game 7 by taking care of business on Saturday night.
