Broncos and Courtland Sutton are reportedly not on the same page regarding his future in Denver
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

It's not a secret anymore that Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton wants to be paid more than he currently is. That kind of situation happens in the NFL far more often than you may think. After a career season like the one Sutton had in 2023, players feel they deserve more money, and they often do.

With only $2 million in guaranteed money remaining on his current contract, Sutton finds himself in a situation where he believes his value is not being adequately recognized. A new report suggests that Sutton is seeking a new contract from the Broncos or will consider a move to a team that will appreciate his skills and compensate him accordingly.

Sutton's dissatisfaction with his current employer is reaching a boiling point. Reports from Jarrett Bailey of USA TODAY and A to Z Sports suggest that Sutton is not just upset, but deeply unhappy with the current situation.

A source tells Touchdown Wire that Sutton and the Broncos are, in fact, not in good standing. The former Pro Bowl receiver wants a new contract, but the Broncos aren’t budging, citing the fact that Sutton still has two years left on his remaining deal. However, the Eagles just extended A.J. Brown, who had two years left on his deal.

Sutton did not show up to voluntary workouts, with reports indicating it was due to the contract situation, and it appears that the talks have gone nowhere since. It is possible that Sutton is also upset because of all the changes he has endured. During his career wearing orange and blue, a plethora of quarterbacks have thrown him the ball or attempted to.

The change he has endured during the last two seasons alone is also kind of crazy. Sutton has had several different head coaches, his running mate Jerry Jeudy was traded, and the cutting of Russell Wilson may have been the final straw.

We could see something happen soon with the Broncos and their star wide receiver, either leaving rookie quarterback Bo Nix with one less weapon or committing to him for the future.
