Manchester United are hopeful of ending their 2023/24 season on a high note by winning the FA Cup final against Manchester City, which might be needed to extend Erik ten Hag’s stay as their manager. Amid this, the future of Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has been clarified amid his links to the Red Devils.

What Did Tuchel Say About His Future?

Some reports claimed Bayern Munich wanted Tuchel to stay on as their manager beyond the ongoing campaign. However, the 50-year-old appears to have dismissed all that by confirming that he will be leaving the club after the final match of the 2023/24 Bundesliga season against Hoffenheim.

The ex-Chelsea boss confirmed: “This is my last press conference as FC Bayern manager. There were talks, but we didn’t reach an agreement… so the decision of February still stands. The feedback from recent weeks was the foundation for us having a discussion to stay and continue together… but we couldn’t reach an agreement. The agreement from February stands, I am leaving Bayern.”

Could Tuchel Take Over From Erik ten Hag?

Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Tuchel is ready to move onto a new chapter in his managerial career and work for a new team starting from the 2024/25 season. It is added that the German manager is “keen” on the prospect of returning to manage in the Premier League once again after having loved the experience of working in the country during his time at Chelsea.

Yet it has been reported that Manchester United’s hierarchy are yet to make a final decision on the future of Ten Hag. They will only make a decision on whether to keep him as their manager for the next campaign after the FA Cup final. Tuchel, meanwhile, is set to leave Bayern after having won the 2022/23 Bundesliga title and taken them to the UEFA Champions League semi-final this year, where they lost to the formidable Real Madrid.
